After giving birth, my ex partner told me to put makeup on. It was a turning point.'
Maggie Ye 27/02/2022..I'm 30 years old and I'm only just learning to do things for me. To embrace my true and raw self. To have confidence in my bare, makeup-free face. But it's been a journey - and one that hasn't come without its challenges.
To give you a bit of a background, I'll start at the very beginning with 15-year-old me, excitedly going with my mum to the Napoleon Perdis makeup counter at David Jones. Foundation, mascara, eyeliner - I ended up walking away with the whole kit and kaboodle. It was here that the catchy tagline “not to prime is a crime” was drilled into me.
Although makeup wasn’t allowed at school, it didn’t stop me from wearing a smidge of foundation and a lick of mascara. It was the norm, and we all know how brutal school can be when there is a “norm. Click here Mamamia

Family being forced out of NZ because 4yo disabled daughter can't get residency
Amanda Gillies 27/02/2022..A Christchurch family is being forced to leave New Zealand because the parents can't get residency for their four-year-old daughter. Ruby O'Connor was born in New Zealand. Her mum Kerry Hayes, dad Bryan O'Connor, and baby brother Leon can all get residency, but she can't because she has a disability and her medical bills run into the tens of thousands of dollars a year.
You just feel like you're not good enough, you know. The family's heartbreaking story began with such promise. O'Connor is a builder who moved to New Zealand at the end of 2013 to help with the rebuild in Christchurch after the earthquakes. Green MP Ricardo Menéndez March says this is a disgrace and he wants the immigration disability policy changed.
That means on March 15, the whole family will farewell to New Zealand, their home, their friends, and their medical community for good. They'll start all over again, a world away, back in Ireland where they'll give Ruby the treatment she needs.
Tamatoa de Emperor: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said: Once you are here on long-term visas, you receive that free care, so we need to make sure we can continue to provide that free care - well - to everyone. Click here News-hub

Surf lifesavers frustrated over Covid-positive swimmer's rescue
28/02/2022...An incredibly poor decision'. That's the assessment of lifeguards after a Covid-positive swimmer needed rescuing at Bethells Beach yesterday. The person entered the water knowing they have Covid.. and then needed the help of lifeguards after getting in trouble. Surf Lifesaving Northern Region chief executive Matt Williams told Checkpoint.
Surf Lifesaving Northern Region chied executive Matt Williams said he was "flabbergasted" someone with Covid-19 would even consider going swimming. I can't see how a sane person would have made that decision. We're all stuck in the same boat here, but when you're putting those lifeguards at risk,
who are already doing so much for the community, it felt like it was very ill-conceived.
